High Speed Drill Geometry Takes a Leap Forward
Irvine, CA – Feb 2003

Kyocera Tycom Corporation announced this week that it has taken delivery of an IDCT Microdrilling Systems SZ-1000 driller. The SZ-1000 features a 275,000 RPM spindle.

"The reason we decided to acquire this machine is because of the ultra high-speed spindle," says Russ Reynoso, Corporate Product Engineering Leader for Kyocera Tycom. "Our goal is to always be pushing the envelope in mechanical drilling technologies and we believe that this is an excellent vehicle for developing new high-speed cutting geometries."

Ken Hudson, Executive Vice President of IDCT, stated, "We are very pleased that Kyocera Tycom is a future-driven company and that they have chosen our technology as a development platform. This will allow our customers to utilize our high speed spindle to an even greater advantage."
