Vision-Assisted Drilling

With the rapid growth of printed circuit board technology today, board density is becoming a larger issue. Accuracy in every aspect of production is a crucial matter. Manufacturing processes struggle to keep up with the demands of the industry, and drilling remains a bottleneck because of limitations in conventional drill machine design technology. Drilled hole accuracy and smaller diameter drilling are essential to technological gains.

Using high-end optical components and top level fiducial-finding software, IDCT's optional vision package can acquire features down to 0.002" diameter, automatically calculates alignment, scale factors, and creates new drilling coordinates to drill the hole with one mil accuracy. Multiple fiducials may be referenced to compensate for skew, rotation, and any other distortions in the board material.

With such innovations and unique technologies, IDCT's drillers have attained an impressive level of performance and adaptability.
